Wuhan Summer University (China) 2015

 

20 Students from Europe and 15 students from China worked in July for a period of 2 weeks together. This was organized by the IAFeS (International Association for eScience) and the Jianghan University.
IAFeS has its seat in Vienna (Austria, Europe) and extends its activity up world-wide with an international emphasis.

The association, whose activity is not directed towards profit, aims:

  • to promote the development, education and research in the area of eScience:

    • Information and communications technology (ICT)

    • telecommunications

    • e-learning

    • e-media

    • e-culture … 

  • promotion of young researchers in these areas

  • offering an exchange platform for experts

  • offering an international co-operation platform

The participants of the Wuhan Summer University gained from new methods of lecturing and research as well as enjoying the international atmosphere. As set by the traditional program itself, this program brought also regional and international professors and lecturers for a period of two weeks together and provided the opportunity for local and international students to learn and share their experiences.

The Wuhan Summer University offered several modules:

  • Business English Language

  • Quantitative Analysis – Big Data Analysis on Chinese Automobile Manufacturing and Marketing

On top: the European students got some lessons in Chinese language.

​Lessons and Excursions

During the morning hours there were the teaching and in the afternoons and at the weekend different excursions were organized. Excursions like:

  • Visit of the Wuhan Planning Exhibition Hall.

  • Meeting with a manager from China Telekom and sicusse the situation of telecommunication and management in China

  • City tour of Wuhan with a visit of Hubei Provincial Museum, the Yellow Crane Tower and a Cruise on the Yangtze River

  • Introduction and Training in Golf on the green field of School of Golf Management at university campus

  • Dumpling making: a lesson of how to make dumplings.

  • Visit Tang Lake Park and Art Museum

  • 2 days Excursion at the weekend to Yichang & The Three Gorges..

  • Visit of the car factory Honda

  • Excursion to the TV-station of Wuhan

  • Chinese Market

  • Buddhist Tempel

  • Concert Hall

The mix of chinese and european students brought a cultural exchange and friendship between the two regions.
