Distinguished Colleagues,

IAFeS – International Association for Sciences together with Politehnica University of Timisoara have the pleasure of inviting you to submit your scientific works for the NETTIES (Network Entities) Conference 2023 to take place in Timisoara, Romania, May 25 – 26.

Supporting the concept of interdisciplinarity, we welcome submissions in all academic fields.

The main topic oft he conference is:
„Digital Society: Synergies between Arts, Culture and Digital Technologies”

The conference is part of the Timisoara European Capital of Culture Programme and the Spotlight Heritage Timisoara project (https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/en/) and brings a diverse category of international speakers, from the areas of education, science, creative industries, heritage and digital culture and partly from the E³UDRES² – European Universities Alliance (https://eudres.eu/) partner universities.

To bring value to Timisoara’s digital and cultural ecosystem we also plan to organise a seminar dedicated to the Augmented and Virtual Reality and to Wearables supported by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project Integrating virtual and AUGMENTED reality with WEARable technology into engineering EDUcation (https://augmentedwearedu.uia.no/).

Based on the concepts of the Spotlight Heritage Timisoara project and the Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2023 programme, we plan to discuss the way in which digital technologies have contributed to the creation of new territories and stimulated different innovations in education for the creative industries, scientifical development in innovative sectors, and different creative instances, and practices in museum spaces. Furthermore, considering that digital technology systems are also a social and human interaction construct, an attempt is made to investigate the circumstances under which universities, foundations, and associations have formulated new challenges and paved the way for new educational and technological developments.

The conference is elaborated as a continuation of the 7 Politehnica University of Timisoara Workshops, from the last years, dedicated to digital competences in creative industries, the IAFeS International Conference NETTIES 2021 on Digital Culture in Education, Science, and Technology, and the Erasmus+ DigiCulture project “Improving the Digital Competences and Social Inclusion of Adults in Creative Industries”, at a time of greater and ever deeper interest of Timisoara’s role in building creative industries.

The conference will be part of a bigger event, according to the following schedule:

May 18 – June 2: International Digital Culture & Spotlight Heritage Festival
May 19: UPT Tech Talks (including Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales)
May 24 starting around 2pm: AugmentedWearEdu Transnational Meeting
May 25 starting around 11:30am: AugmentedWearEdu Multiplier Event
May 25-26: NETTIES conference and International Spotlight Heritage Student Contest

So, you are warmly invited to extend your stay and attend the other events as well, as we will showcase a lot of our project’s outputs during them.

Application

We invite you to submit the titles of your presentations for NETTIES 2023, and a small abstract, till May 10^th via email to johann@johannguenther.at, radu.vasiu@upt.ro and diana.andone@upt.ro. The length of the initial application should be no more than one side of A4. After May 10^th we’ll announce a draft programme of the conference.
